Cold across Scandinavia

Today
Strong gales will be blowing through the Straits of Gibraltar today and it will be quite windy throughout the Mediterranean with showers extending from Portugal and Spain across the Balearics to Sicily and Italy. Eastern parts of the Mediterranean looks essentially fine and sunny. Showery today across France and England. Some of these will be heavy along. Most of Germany looks fair and dry although some rain may reach the west late in the afternoon. Expect a day of sunny spells, cloud and showers Belgium and the Netherlands. High pressure will give much of Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Finland a cold, rather windy but dry day with long sunny spells, although scattered snow showers will affect western parts of Norway. Most of Russia will also be rather cold and dry with an area of rain across the Ukraine, Belarus, Poland and Romania. Rather cloudy with a few spots of rain across the Baltic region today. Expect quite a few showers today across the Czech Republic, the former Yugoslavia and Turkey some of these will be locally heavy. Most of Greece will be dry with sunny spells although there is a risk of one or two scattered showers.



Friday
Still rather windy through the Mediterranean region today. Outbreaks of rain are forecast for Portugal and northern parts of Spain. Central and southern parts of Spain through the Balearics into Corsica and Sardinia looks mainly dry today with more in the way of sunshine. Continued unsettled. Showery across Italy into Bulgaria, the former Yugoslavia, and the Czech Republic. For Greece and Turkey expect a dry, mostly sunny day. Most of Romania should also remain dry. Showery weather is expected to continue across much of Britain, France with a few showers into Belgium and Holland and these become more widespread across Germany into western parts of Poland and Hungary. The far south of France should be dry and sunny. Continued cold across Scandinavia today. A dry day is expected across Norway a front will bring an area of snow to northern parts of Finland into Sweden with rain across southern parts of Finland into the Baltic States, Russia, Belarus and eastern Poland.
