Heavy rain southern France & northern Italy

Friday
Largely dry across Spain and Portugal, although local showers may affect the south coast, also the Pyrenees. Patchy rain may also reach north-west Iberia later. Highs 17 to 24C, warmest south & east. Heavy and prolonged rain plus thunder affects southern France, northern Italy and the southern Alps. Some thundery bursts may track north across central France. Heavy rain also threatens Corsica and Sardinia, although southern Italy should mainly dry, and very warm at 26C.
High pressure centred across Scandinavia also influences much of east & south-eastern Europe, bringing plenty of dry weather to countries from Greece to Poland. Warm around the Aegean Sea at 22 to 25C, but cooler north from the Black Sea at just 9 to 12C. A brisk easterly wind affects central Europe, although it will be dry in Germany, the Low Countries and Denmark. Extensive dry weather across Scandinavia, but chilly at 4 to 7C, and low cloud may plague parts of Sweden & Finland. Sunshine and light winds in the north.

Dry for most of Spain, France and Portugal, although areas of showery rain will affect coastlines around Biscay. Highs 25C in southern Spain, and reaching 23C in south-western France. Heavy overnight rain will fade for much of northern Italy, although thundery bursts may drift into Austria, Slovenia and Croatia, and a few thunderstorms may break out along the spine of Italy.
A ridge of high pressure over Greece and Turkey brings extensive dry and warm weather. Risk of a few showers in Romania. Warm in Hungary, around 21C. Local showers for south-east Germany and the Czech Republic. Some rain for Germany and the Low Countries in the early hours but will clear north-westwards, leaving a largely dry day. A strong easterly wind for southern Scandinavia. High pressure centred around Finland maintains fair weather across northern Europe. Chilly with areas of low cloud. Rain may reach southern Norway later in the day.
