Eastern snow showers
Cold for all

Thursday
A chilly day ahead. Cloud and snow showers wil be affecting eastern coasts and hills throughout the day. Brighter in the west of Wales, southwest England and western Scotland with some good spells of sunshine here. Cloud tending to increase over central and southern England bringing a few snow flurries here through the afternoon. Ireland sees some cloud and patchy rain in the far south but rather cloudy elsewhere, although some sunshine in the west. Highs at 2 to 5C.

Thursday Night
A cold night with a widespread frost. Icy patches on the roads where snow flurries or drizzle occur. These are most likely in eastern parts of Scotland and England, although the hills of Wales, central and southern England will be prone to these too. Cloudy in Ireland with some drizzle in the far south. Tending to be drier in much of western Wales, northwest England, north and western Scotland. Lows here at -4C, nearer -1C elsewhere.

Friday
High pressure is going to be centred over Sweden on Friday with low pressure close to Portugal. The result is that the UK and Ireland experience a cold easterly wind. This will be bringing snow showers to eastern Scotland and eastern England. Tending to be drier to the west, just an odd snow shower on the hills. Rather cloudy too, although this breaking in places with the best sunshine in western Wales, northwest England and western Scotland. Ireland sees a few snow showers in the east, with drizzle to the south, but brighter and dry in many central and western parts. Highs at 1 to 4C.

Saturday
The easterly wind persists over the UK on Saturday, with the UK squeezed between high pressure to the north and low pressure to the south. It is going to be another cold day with plenty of cloud. There will be some snow showers on eastern coasts in the morning, these tending to then develop inland as the day progresses. Most will only be light, although there could be an odd heavier one in the east. Drier in much of western Scotland and Ireland as well as the far south of England. Highs at 2 to 4C.
