Slow moving fronts extend across north-western Britain & Ireland, drifting slowly southwards through the day, bringing persistent and often heavy rain, particularly across the hills. Less rain toward the north-east. Patchy rain reaches central England, but very little in the south. Cloudy skies for most, some brightness in the east. A brisk south-westerly wind, gale force around coasts in the west & north. Mild, 9 to 12C.

Saturday night
Rain turns heavier across south-western Britain from late afternoon. Outbreaks of rain spread erratically across the Midlands and south during the evening and night. Heaviest falls affect the hills of Wales. A clearance develops from the north-west overnight. Rain then returns from the west to western Scotland & Ireland before dawn. Mild at 6 to 9C in south, but dropping to 1 to 4C as skies clear in the north.

Sunday
Mainly dry across central & eastern England. Largely cloudy, a little sun in the east. The south-west stays grey and damp. Slow-moving fronts bring persistent rain to Ireland and north-western Britain, heaviest over western hills. Rain turns heavier for Wales & the south-west by afternoon, then spreads to central areas after dark. Brisk south-westerly winds, up to gale force around Irish Sea coasts. Highs 9 to 12C.

Monday
Low pressure centred to the north-west of Britain brings an unsettled day to most places. A cold front lies across the English Channel and the south-east, bringing a risk of persistent heavy rain for southern Britain. Elsewhere, clusters of heavy showers will spread from the south-west - possible hail and thunder, snow over the hills. The north-east should be driest and brightest. Squally south-westerly winds. Highs 7 to 10C.
