A wet start across southern England. Rain will edge slowly northwards through the day, reaching Yorkshire by afternoon, whilst the south-east should become dry. Showery rain persists in the south-west. West Wales may escape drier overall. Patchy rain affects south-west Scotland, but much of northern Britain will stay dry and bright. Heavy rain affects Ireland. Blustery around coasts. Temperatures 6 to 8C north, up to 12C south.


Friday night
A zone of rain continues to push northwards into the night. Snow for higher ground over the Pennines & Scottish Borders, later the south-east Highlands. Showery rain affects central areas, which may band together into persistent heavy rain for southern counties, moving eastwards. Heavy rain continues for Ireland. Windy for Scotland, and also south-western Britain. Lows 2 to 5C, lowest north & west, 7C south-east.


Saturday
Low pressure continues to push fronts northwards. Rain and hill snow affects Scotland - heaviest toward the south & east. Improving conditions should develop across northern England. A zone of rain may affect East Anglia for a time. Clusters of heavy and squally showers for Wales & the south-west, perhaps also Northern Ireland. Risk of hail and thunder. Central areas of England may escape dry much of the day. Highs 7 to 10C.


Sunday
A broad area of low pressure remains in charge, with various fronts rotating around it. Some areas of rain, may locally set in for several hours - mainly toward the south & south-west, and also the far north, but precise details uncertain. Some central-northern regions may well escape dry for much of the day. Blustery winds around southern coasts. Local frost in the morning. Daytime highs between 7 and 11C.
