Friday
Showers will affect many areas during the day, these most frequent in the west, where rain may locally become almost constant over several hours, particularly in western Scotland, also southern parts of Ireland. Fewer showers toward eastern counties, plenty of dry weather with sunny spells. A moderate south-westerly breeze, strongest around coasts of Wales & the south-west. Top temperatures 13 to 16C north & west, 17 or 18C south-east.

Friday night
Areas of showers merging into longer spells of rain for Wales and western regions of England into the night. A few clusters of showers may also run along the south coast. Much of Scotland & north-east England should stay dry. Rain will clear from Ireland. Clear spells breaking through away from the rain, allowing temperatures to fall quickly, lowest values 5 to 8C for most, but some Highland glens may dip close to freezing.

Saturday
An unsettled day for England & Wales. Low pressure moves east across the country, producing widespread showery rain, some heavy bursts, hail and possible thunder. Rain may be very frequent over many hours, the most persistent falls transferring east through the day. Brighter overall for Scotland & Ireland, just local showers. Gradually, clearer spells extend to Wales & the west as a north-westerly breeze freshens. Cool, just 12 to 16C.

Sunday
A ridge of high pressure builds across Britain & Ireland, bringing a fair day for many, with a good amount of sunshine. A few showers may affect East Anglia in the morning. Fronts approaching from the Atlantic bring rain to Ireland into the night. Mostly light winds, but breezy at first in the east, and freshening later in west. Starting chilly - a slight frost possible in rural northern areas. Highs 14 to 18C.
