Rain in the eastern Mediterranean, fair in the west


Wednesday
A dry and bright start to the day for Spain and Portugal though cloud will build from the northwest through the afternoon and a band of heavy rain will push into northwestern Spain by the evening. A dry and bright day too for the Balearics, Corsica, Sardinia and much of Italy on Wednesday. Southern Italy will be somewhat cloudy but should stay dry. Thundery showers will affect much of Greece and western Turkey throughout the day with some heavy downpours possible.
High pressure continues to hold over central Europe on Wednesday though an extensive cold front will bring rain to northern France and the Low Countries, and northwestern parts of Germany later. Switzerland, Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia will have a dry and mostly bright day.
A cloudy but dry morning for Denmark will give way to rain during Wednesday afternoon. Light snow showers for southeastern Finland and the Baltics will ease to leave a dry and bright afternoon. Norway and Sweden will have a bright start to the day but cloud will quickly build from the southwest bringing a mixture of rain and snow which will move northward throughout the day.

Thursday
A fair day for Portugal and Spain. Good spells of sunshine for most and staying dry overall. The Balearics should be dry with more sunshine here. Fair too in Corsica and Sardinia. Italy will be sunny and dry, although there may be some morning frost and fog patches. Greece should be dry for most, although some showers in the east. Showers in Turkey, some of them heavy.
France will be cloudy and damp with most rain northern and west, but low cloud and drizzle for many. Rain too in the Low Countries. Fair for most of eastern Germany but cloudy in the west, Poland will be bright with some sunny spells. Hungary and Austria will be bright with sunny sells, but cloud and some outbreaks of rain affecting Switzerland.
Breezy in Denmark with cloud and some rain. Cloudy and damp in the Baltic States whilst rain affects Finland. Fair for most of Sweden with some sunny spells. Cloud and rain affecting much of Norway.
