Thursday
A front extends north to south through the UK on Thursday, edging slowly eastwards. The front has cloud and bursts of rain associated with it, some of them heavy and mainly affecting southern and central areas in the morning, then into northern England and eastern Scotland through the afternoon. Drier weather in the far southeast with broken cloud and milder here. Turning drier in the west of the UK with sunny spells although some rain and showers pushing back into western Ireland later. Highs at 21C in the southeast, 14C to 17C elsewhere.

Thursday Night
Rain across eastern areas will clear and then much of the British Isles will have a mainly dry night with clear spells and it will turn chilly. Rural mist, fog and ground frost is possible. Late in the night thickening cloud and a strengthening SW'ly wind will herald the arrival of some wet weather across Ireland and W Scotland. Minimum temperatures 5C to 10C, but rurally and locally, just 3C or 4C.

Friday
High pressure stays to the east on Friday with lower pressure to the west. There will be an active set of fronts in western areas with some showery outbreaks of rain in western Scotland, western Wales and western England as well as eastern Ireland, perhaps locally heavy for a time too. More eastern and southern areas tending to stay dry with sunny spells and drier conditions. Windy across more northern and western areas too. Highs at 14C to 20C.

Saturday
Into Saturday and high pressure continues to be influential just to the east and north-east of the British Isles and this will maintain mainly dry conditions across much of England and Wales through the day with some bright or sunny spells. Patchy light rain or drizzle may, however, develop across NW England and Wales later in the day. Across Scotland, especially W Scotland and Ireland a cloudier, breezier day is forecast with some rain or showers developing as the day progresses. Mild, if not warm for many areas, temperatures 14C to 20C, perhaps locally 21C or 22C across urban areas of SE England.
