Rain in west

Tuesday
A fine start to the morning across much of the UK. The best of the sunshine is going to be in more eastern areas. Any morning frost will be clearing to leave a fair morning with further spells of sunshine throughout. Thicker cloud and rain affecting Ireland early in the morning, some of it heavy. The rain band edging eastwards bringing rain into western Wales and southwest England by midday. Dry weather continues in much of Scotland and eastern England throughout this afternoon although cloud increases. Rain reaches western England, southwest England and central southern England by late afternoon. Highs at 9C in eastern England, 12C in Ireland.

Tuesday Night

Some heavy rain over the hills of south Wales. Turning drier in Scotland and northern England as well as Northern Ireland with broken cloud. Windy with heavy showers in northern Scotland. Lows near 6 to 10C.

Wednesday
Low pressure to the north of Scotland brings a windy day on Wednesday. Cloud and outbreaks of rain across southern Ireland, southern and southeast England as well as southern Wales. Drier to the north with broken cloud and some bright spells, the best in the east. Gales in Scotland where there will be some heavy showers in central and northern areas. The afternoon sees more persistent rain returning to the far south of Ireland and southwest England, although much of the rest of Ireland and the UK should be drier. The best of the sunshine in more eastern areas of England and Scotland. Showers in northern Scotland. Highs at 10 to 14C.

Thursday
Fronts passing northeast through Thursday bringing moist, mild Atlantic air through all areas of the UK and Ireland. There will be plenty of cloud and outbreaks of rain affecting western areas, the most persistent over western Scotland and the south and west of Ireland.
