Low pressure to the east of Scotland on Wednesday which initially could see some cloud and patchy rain for the far NE here before clearing off. Many will have a dry day with some developing sunny spells, though outbreaks of rain most likely to push through Northern Ireland, southwest Scotland, The Borders into northern England. Showers affecting northern and western coasts and hills of Wales and Scotland too. Staying windy for much of England, Wales and Ireland. Highs at 5C in northern Scotland, and a milder 6 to 13C elsewhere.

Wednesday Night
Overnight, it will be mostly dry with clear spells centrally and further east. Always more cloud across central and southern Scotland into northern England and through western areas generally with some scattered showers about. More persistent rain moving in to Northern Ireland by dawn. Cold across northern and central Scotland with lows here around -1 to 1C, elsewhere 5 to 9C.

Thursday
Any bright spells across northern Scotland will soon diminish as the next Atlantic frontal system moves towards the country. A progressively wet and windy day across Scotland, while rain clears from the west through Ireland and Northern Ireland. Showery bits of rain expected in places through northern England, Wales and SW England, though most others should stay dry just overcast. Highs at a mild 8 to 13C though always cooler through central and NW Scotland.

Friday
A ridge of higher pressure builds on Friday bringing a drier, bright and cooler day for most. SE England could see cloudier skies to start with the risk of some patchy rain but this should move out soon enough. Windy across northern Scotland with showery rain affecting northwestern areas here. Rain and strong winds return to Ireland in the evening, with drizzle and cloudier weather for southwest and southern coasts of England in the evening too. Highs at 6 to 11C.
