A cold day ahead with plenty of cloud as the southeast wind increases. Most cloud will be affecting western areas through this morning and this will be giving some outbreaks of rain to southwest England, southern wales and much of southern, central and eastern Ireland. A few outbreaks of drizzle in eastern Scotland too. Through the later morning some breaks in the cloud will affect eastern areas of England, sunshine developing here. Rain and drizzle fade in more western areas of England and Wales too with some brighter spells here and there. Staying damp and cold in the far southwest and across eastern and southern Ireland. Cold for all with tops of just 3 to 5C, but 7C in southwest England and 9C in western Ireland.

Thursday Night
A cold night ahead with a widespread frost developing. Cloud affects western parts of the UK with some outbreaks of rain affecting the west of Scotland. Some showers may drift onto eastern coasts of England and Scotland. Dry elsewhere under clearing skies and lighter winds. Lows around -1 to -3C under the clearer skies, 2C on eastern coasts in cloud and 5C in Ireland.
 

Friday
Low pressure west of Ireland with high pressure to the east of the UK on Friday. A risk of a few showers affecting eastern coasts. Broken cloud further west with some reasonable spells of sunshine in Scotland, northern England, the Midlands and parts of southern England. Cloud and some patchy rain in Ireland, this rain becoming more persistent during the afternoon. The winds increasing in Ireland too. Highs at 3 to 5C for most, 9C in western Ireland.

Saturday
Low pressure over the western UK and Ireland on Saturday. Fronts will be pushing eastwards taking rain with them, the rain heavy in the west. Rain turns to snow over the high ground of Scotland and the top of the Pennines as the day progresses with blizzard conditions as winds increase. Staying dry in the far east of England although winds and cloud increasing and feeling cold. Highs at 2 to 5C for most, 12C as the milder air arrives in southwest England, 9C in Ireland.
