UK Forecast - January 04, 2019
Cold, mostly dry
Murkier on Sunday

Saturday
A cold start to Saturday morning with a widespread frost. Some mist and fall for England and Wales. Cloudy skies in western Scotland and western Ireland where there may be some drizzle too. Elsewhere some bright or sunny spells are likely. As the mist and fog patches left so more sunny spells will be developing. Always cloudy in more western areas. A chilly day with temperatures at 3°C at at best in parts of the Midlands, but up to 7°C in western Scotland and west of Ireland.

Saturday Night
A front brings cloud and outbreaks of patchy rain through Ireland and Scotland overnight. Dry weather reaches northern Scotland by the morning. An early frost over central and southern England and Wales, but this lifting as cloud increases during the night. Patchy rain arriving in North West England and the north and west of Wales by Sunday morning. Lowest temperature is about -2°C in south-east England but 4°C in central Scotland.

Sunday
A large area of high pressure remains to the southwest of England on Sunday. A weaker front over central and southern England and Wales brings low cloud and a murky day here, some drizzle over the hills. There could still be a fair amount of cloud in northern England and Scotland as well as Northern Ireland, but this should break to allow some brighter spells to develop. Highs at 7C in southern England, 10C in the south of Ireland and 5C in northern Scotland.

Monday
High pressure is to the south of the UK and Ireland again on Monday. Morning mist and fog patches lifting to leave most places dry with broken cloud and some bright or sunny spells. Increased winds bringing some patchy rain to western Scotland and western Ireland, this turning heavier during the morning as an area of gales affects Norther Ireland and most of Scotland. Rain turning to wintry showers in northwest Scotland where the strongest winds will be towards late afternoon and evening. Rain too in northern England and passing through Ireland, most of this patchy. Best sunshine in southern and southeast England. Highs at 7 to 9C.
