Tuesday
A cold and cloudy day in a brisk easterly wind. There will be cloud and periods of rain affecting eastern areas of Scotland and England. Tending to be drier and brighter to the west although some showers here too. Some cloud and showers in eastern Ireland but fair to the west. Staying cold and rather cloudy in the afternoon, most of any outbreaks of rain in central and eastern areas. Highs at 5 to 8C.


Wednesday Night
More cloud and wind affecting much of northern England and Scotland tonight. Cloud in the east will continue to produce periods of rain with some snow over the hills of Scotland. The rain becoming more persistent as the night progresses in northern and eastern areas of England with some rain in north Wales turning to snow on high ground. Cloud and some rain in northern parts of Ireland, drier to the south. Lows at 1 to 5C.


Wednesday
Low pressure affecting England, wales and Ireland on Wednesday. There will be spells of rain in Ireland with another area of rain too in central and eastern Scotland, some snow on the hills. Tending to become brighter in England and Wales into this afternoon, after a damp morning, perhaps with some snow over the tops of the hills of Wales. Further rain and strong winds in northern and eastern Scotland, staying damp in Ireland. Highs at a cold 4 to 7C.


Thursday
An area of low pressure remains over the northern Bay of Biscay on Thursday while a ridge of high pressure extends east-west to the north of Scotland. This mains the easterly flow for much of the country. It will remain cloudy but it will be drier than Wednesday with rain across eastern Scotland and the coasts of northeastern England as well as the far southwest of Ireland. The best of the brighter weather will be in the far west of the British Isles. High temperatures will reach around 6 to 9C.
