Drier, brighter Sunday
Rain returns later

Sunday
Low pressure clears to the south of the country on Sunday. This is going to be bringing periods of rain to southeastern parts of England, although this clears quickly through the morning. Drier and brighter weather in Scotland and northern England as well as much of Ireland. Cloud building from the west bringing rain to western Ireland through the afternoon. This spreading into the western UK by evening. Cold for all with highs around 4 to 9C.

Sunday Night
Rain spreads east across the UK through Sunday night and into Monday morning reaching most areas by daybreak. This will fall as snow over higher ground across Scotland and the north of England. Behind the main band of rain, to the west, showers will develop. These mostly affecting northwestern coastal areas. Overnight lows falling to 3 to 6C for most, colder over higher ground and in more rural spots.

Monday
Low pressure to the northwest sends a band of heavy rain from west to southeast across England on Monday morning. Showery conditions follow behind this to the west for much of Ireland and northern and western parts of the UK. These showers may merge to give longer spells of rain for western coasts and they will turn to snow over higher ground. A drier and brighter day for eastern areas once early rain clears away. Highs at 5 to 8C.

Tuesday
Low pressure is centred east of Scotland on Tuesday. A cloudy day with showers in northern and western Scotland. Showers turning to snow over higher ground. Showers, some of them heavy, may merge to give longer spells of rain over northern and western coasts of England, Ireland, Wales and Northern Ireland too. Drier in the east and south where there will be sunny spells. Temperatures at 5 to 8C.
