This will likely be heavy and persistent for most of the day with some flooding likely, especially in the Lake District. Remaining dry but mostly cloudy for most of central, south & eastern England. Drizzly rain for Wales. Occasional rain or showers on the coasts of western Scotland. Strong southwesterlies, gales near coasts and hills. Highs 14 to 17C for many, 11 to 14C in northwest Scotland.

Wednesday night
Rain continues through central and southwest Scotland and Cumbria, increasing the risk of flooding here, although the rain tends to push further south and east through the night, becoming heavier and more persistent in west Wales also. Drizzly in southwest England. Elsewhere, a dry and fairly mild night. Brisk southwesterly winds. Staying very mild, overnight lows of 10 to 13C for most places.

Thursday
Rain continues across northwest England, with heavy rain pushing into Wales and southwest England through the morning. This will be heavy and persistent, particularly across north and west Wales. An increasing risk of flooding in these areas. Drier in central and southern England. Also drier for much of northern Scotland and Northern Ireland. A few showers in the west. Highs of 13 to 17C for England & Wales, 10 to 12C across Scotland & Ireland.

Friday
Rain moves south and east across central areas during the morning, weakening as it does so, leaving some light rain and dampness across the Midlands and southeast. A drier but cloudy day for northern and western areas, although showers will return to the west and southwest. Some heavy rain possibly moving across southeast England later in the day. Highs of 10 to 15C for most areas, with the highest temperatures across central and southern England.
