Thursday
Low pressure centred north of Scotland brings rain much of the day to the west of Scotland, plus some steady rain for Cumbria too. Rain and drizzle for Wales and southwest England. A zone of rain also affects the south of England. Skies generally cloudy. Best of any drier and brighter weather across east and northeast England. A brisk southwesterly breeze, but feeling milder, highs 9 to 12C.


Thursday night
Generally mild with southwesterly winds overnight. Cloudy skies for many, with best of any clear breaks toward the east. Rain and drizzle affects western regions, with heavier rain for southwest Scotland and western Ireland. Snow for a time over the West Highlands. Coldest in northern Scotland, locally close to freezing in glens. Otherwise temperatures around 5 to 7C, or milder in southwest.


Friday
A brisk southwesterly wind affects the country with fronts passing eastwards. A cloudy and windy day with rain spreading from west to east, heaviest in the west. Sunny spells and showers follow from the west across Ireland. South and southeast England largely dry with some sun, clouding up with patchy rain later. Northeast areas also mainly dry. Generally mild, highs 8 to 10C north, 11 to 13C south.


Saturday
Brisk and cool westerly winds affect the British Isles. Low pressure the north and a frontal system brings widespread rain and hill snow to Scotland, heaviest in the west. Showery in western England and Wales, with some organised showers possible for Northern Ireland too. Largely dry for central and eastern England with some sun. A front over southern counties brings cloud and rain or drizzle. Highs 6 to 9C.
