Thursday
A strong high pressure area is centred over southern England bring a cold, dry and bright day for most of us. The day will start cold with a widespread groundfrost for Scotland, England and Wales. Some fog or freezing fog patches are likely and may be slow to clear. It will be a dry day for all but cloudy for western areas and across the Midland Valley of Scotland. Brighter skies are expected over the southern half of the country though some patches of fog may persist here in low-lying areas. Winds will be light. High temperatures at 1 to 7C, but staying colder where fog lingers.

Thursday Night
It will be an overcast night for Scotland and later through the night some cloud will start to edge into eastern parts of England. It should stay dry for most of us though there could be a few spots of light rain or drizzle for the Western Isles. Another widespread ground frost is expected by Friday morning. Lows for towns and cities at -2 to 1C.
 

Friday
High pressure is still dominant and centred over southern Britain. It will be a cold, frosty start to the day for all but overcast with some patches of fog in Scotland and eastern England. Elsewhere, skies should be clear and there should be some good bright spells for the morning. Skies will cloud over for England and Wales through the afternoon and the best of the brightness will be over Ireland and west-central Scotland. Winds will be light. Highs at 3 to 6C, cooler where fog persists.

Saturday
High pressure centred over the south of England brings a settled day of weather. The day will start cold with a widespread ground frost and some icy patches expected. It will start bright for much of Scotland and northern England but cloud will encroach from the north and west through the day. Early fog patches over central and southern England may be slow to lift and could persist through the day. It will stay dry with light winds. Highs at 3 to 7C.
