Wednesday
A slack westerly flow with high pressure to the south. A weak front sinks slowly southwards, bringing drizzly rain to south-west Scotland, Northern Ireland and north-west England, but becoming wetter across north Wales too. Dull and damp for south-western areas. Largely dry for the Midlands, south & east of England, perhaps a little weak sun. Becoming dry for much of Scotland, brightest in the east. Fairly light winds. Mild overall, widely 9 to 12C.


Wednesday night
A zone of rain or drizzle affects central England & Wales into the evening and night. The most persistent rain affects the hills of west Wales. Amounts small elsewhere, but damp for the Midlands, perhaps also eastern England. The far south should stay dry and mild, with local fog possible. Clearer skies for Scotland, northern England & Northern Ireland, with rural frost. Light winds overall. Temperatures 2 to 5C north, 7 to 9C south.


Thursday
Pressure stays high. A weak front lies across central-northern regions of Britain & Ireland, bringing grey skies and patchy light rain. Locally it may stay damp all day for north-west England, Wales and perhaps the north Midlands. Generally dry but cloudy for southern England. Murky in the south-west, with hill fog and a little drizzle. Dry and bright for much of Scotland. Local brief showers far north. Winds mostly light. Highs 7 to 12C, mildest south.


Friday
High pressure builds further across the British Isles, bringing quiet conditions overall. Temperatures lower than midweek, but typically near or just above average. Largely dry, but a lot of cloud in the west, perhaps local drizzle near coasts. Some stubborn fog, especially in central, east and southern areas. A little weak sunshine. Light winds. A chilly start with local frost. Highs 5 to 10C, coolest where fog lingers.
