Showers, outbreaks of rain

Friday
A ridge of high pressure builds on Friday. This should allow Friday to be mostly dry across the UK with sunny spells. There is a low risk of a shower in central and eastern areas. Thicker cloud and increased winds in Ireland, Wales and western parts of Wales and England. A risk of some rain in Ireland and southwestern parts of the UK. Highs at 5 to 10C.
 


Friday Night
A rather cloudy night with showery outbreaks of rain spreading from the southwest across much of the UK. A drier, but still cloudy night, for Ireland and Northern Ireland. Overnight lows widely at 2 to 4C, colder over northern parts of Scotland.

 
 
 


Saturday
Fronts passing eastwards through the country on Saturday. These bring stronger winds and periods of rain. The rain could be heavy at times. Further periods of rain in the afternoon over Wales and southwest England as well as southern Ireland. Showers for the west of Scotland, some merging to longer spells of rain. A windy day. Highs at 7 to 12C.
 


Sunday
Rain clearing east on Sunday, associated with a front. Brighter weather follows from the west and north, this bringing cooler conditions too. There will be showers, some of them heavy in the north and west, turning to sleet and snow on hills. More persistent rain with snow on the hills in Scotland and Northern Ireland. High temperatures at 5 to 10C.
