Outbreaks of rain
Staying cold

Monday
Low pressure to the northwest sends a band of heavy rain from west to southeast across England on Monday morning. Showery conditions follow behind this to the west for much of Ireland and northern and western parts of the UK while further rain and snow affects northern parts of Scotland. Showers may merge to give longer spells of rain for western coasts. A drier and brighter day for eastern areas once early rain clears away. Highs at 4 to 8C.

Monday Night
Outbreaks of rain continue to affect parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland, eastern Ireland and northern parts of both England and Wales through Monday night into Tuesday. These will turn to sleet and snow over higher ground. Clearer skies to the south and west but still a chance of isolated showers here. A chilly night with temperatures around 1 to 4C, cooler in more rural areas with a touch of frost.

Tuesday
Low pressure is centred east of Scotland on Tuesday. A cloudy day with showers in northern and western Scotland. Showers turning to snow over higher ground. Showers, some of them heavy, may merge to give longer spells of rain over northern and western coasts of England, Ireland, Wales and Northern Ireland too. Drier for central, southern and eastern areas where there will be good spells of sunshine. High temperatures at 5 to 8C.

Wednesday
Low pressure continues to dominate the weather with a few centres circulating around the UK and Ireland on Wednesday. A cloudy start to the day with isolated showers before outbreaks of rain move into western and southwestern areas. The best of any sunshine to the east. High temperatures at 3 to 8C.
