Tuesday
Periods of rain moving into the south of Ireland as well as Southwest England and later the south-west of Wales. Southern coast of England are also likely to be damp with further outbreaks of rain. Dryer across Northern Ireland and northern England as well as Scotland. There will be a fair amount of cloud here although it should be a much brighter day in Scotland. The best of any sunshine in eastern Scotland. A few showers affecting western coasts of Scotland. Highs at a cool 4 to 8C across many central and northern areas, 13C in the south.

Tuesday night
Outbreaks of rain and drizzle spreading through southern Ireland, Wales and much of central and southern England through the early part of tonight. The rain then pushes into northern England through the early hours and becomes heavier here. It should be dry but fairly cloudy across Scotland and the north and west of Ireland. A touch of frost in Scotland and Ireland with lows at 0 to 3C, nearer 9C in southern England.

Wednesday
An area of low pressure will cross southern England on Wednesday. This will bring cloud and strong winds as well as rain to many areas of England and Wales. The rain may be heavy at times and could lead to local flooding. A tendency for the rain to turn to snow over the high ground of northern England and Wales, especially later in the day. Some heavy showers across southern England where there may be a few bright spells. Brighter and colder across Scotland and Ireland with some wintry showers affecting the north and east of Scotland. Highs at 13C in the south, 2 to 5C in northern areas.

Christmas Eve
Cold air is going to be spreading southwards through Christmas Eve to be affecting all areas. High-pressure will be to the west of Ireland with low-pressure to the east of England. There may be some early morning rain, sleet and perhaps even some wet snow across south east England. Snow showers will affect eastern coast of Scotland and England through the day. Much brighter and drier to the west with some good spells of sunshine. Highs at 3 to 6C.
