A west to northwesterly flow prevails into the start of the week as low pressure continues to influence the British Isles. Generally a mix of sunshine, showers and outbreaks of rain. The best of the brightness will be reserved for Wales and central and southern England while there will be some heavier bursts of rain for eastern parts of Ireland and northeastern parts of both Scotland and England. High temperatures at 14 to 20C, warmest in southern England.

Monday night
Showery rain continus for western parts of the UK through the night from Monday into Tuesday while a heavy pulse of rain tracks from west to east across Ireland. This reaches western Wales by the morning. Clearer skies over Scotland and southeastern England, cloudier skies elsewhere. Overnight lows widely at 7 to 11C: milder for southwestern parts of the UK and Ireland, cooler for more rural locations.

Tuesday
An area of low pressure tracks across Ireland overnight then across Wales and southwestern England through the morning and early afternoon. This brings outbreaks of heavy rain and gusty winds for a time to the southwest UK. Brightening from the west later with scattered showers. A bright day on the whole for the island of Ireland and Scotland though there will be frequent showers spreading from west to east for Northern Ireland and Scotland throughout the day. High temperatures at 14 to 19C.

Wednesday
Lower pressure to the west continues to dominate the weather across the British Isles through the mid-week period. Frontal systems bring heavy bursts of rain to southern Ireland, Wales, central and northern England and western parts of Scotland. Scattered showers follow to the west behind the main band of rain for Ireland, England and Wales. A drier day for northeastern Scotland. Breezy for the southern UK. High temperatures at 14 to 21C.
