Tuesday
A fair start to Tuesday morning across much of England and Wales. However they will be strong winds and frequent showers affecting western Scotland, these falling as snow and bringing blizzards to the Highlands. Increasing cloud will rapidly spread to Wales, Southwest England and Ireland bringing rain through the morning, some of this heavy. The winds will be increasing to breaking severe gales on coasts. Heavy rain and widespread severe gales spread through England and Wales during the late morning and afternoon. Gusts of 80mph could occur over southern coast of England, up to 70mph inland. These winds are strong enough to cause minor damage and there will be flooding on the roads. Scotland continues to see wintry showers in the west, but much brighter to the east. A risk of snow over the southern Uplands as rain arrives in southern Scotland this afternoon. Ireland will also have some showers, most in the west, where some could be wintry. Staying windy in western Scotland too. Highs at 3C in northern Scotland, 5C in northern England and Ireland, 12C in southern England.


Tuesday Night
Seere gales over central and southern England at first, these winds easing after midnight. Rain in these areas too, again this heavy at times. The rain is likely to last throughout the night over East Anglia and southeast England (east of the Isle of Wight). Showers follow to the west. Drier in central and northern England. Eastern Scotland should be dry too. Further spells of wintry weather in western Scotland, with a few wintry showers in western Ireland. gales continue in western Scotland. Lows at 0C in Scotland and Ireland, 8C in southeast England, widely 3 to 5C.


Wednesday
A quieter, cooler day for Wednesday. Sunny spells affecting much of England and Wales together with Ireland. There will be a few showers on western coasts and hills. Breezy in Scotland where wintry showers are set to continue in the west. Turning a little milder for Scotland in the afternoon with more persistent rain arriving in the north and west as fronts pass east. Dry and bright for England and Wales. Highs at 6 to 9C.


Thursday
Low pressure affects western Ireland on Thursday. Winds increasing again through Ireland and the west of the UK in the morning, rain arriving as fronts move in. Eastern areas should be staying drier at first, although rain arrives in all but the far east by evening. Eastern Scotland should stay dry, although winds increasing as the cloud arrives. The rain turning heavy in the west. Highs at 6 to 12C.
