Monday
Low pressure is centred to the northwest of Scotland on Monday. Rain and snow sinks affects much of Scotland, this heaviest and most persistent to the northwest. This is also where the strongest winds will be with gales expected over northwestern and western areas. A mostly dry day elsewhere across the UK and Ireland with the best of the sun over eastern areas. Showers, some wintry, may develop over northwestern-facing coasts and hills later. Mild in the south, cooler north with high temperatures between 4 and 10°C.


Monday Night
Outbreaks of rain, sleet and hill snow continue over western Scotland as well as northwestern parts of Ireland, England and Wales. Through the night sleet and snow spreads across northern England. A band of light patchy rain spreads quickly southeastward across England too. A mostly dry night for eastern Scotland which is where the best of any clear skies will be. Overnight lows range from 1 to 4°C in towns and cities, colder in more rural areas.


Tuesday
High pressure builds to the southwest while low pressure moves to the north bringing a cool westerly flow to the UK and Ireland. Early rain and hill snow over Scotland and northern England fades into the afternoon as do showers over northwestern coastal regions of Ireland, England and Wales. Occasional showers may develop through the afternoon, these largely over eastern coasts of England and Scotland. A cool day with highs at just 5 to 8°C.


Wednesday
High pressure builds over the UK and Ireland through midweek bringing a dry and fair day for many. Occasional showers affect far northern and western areas at times but otherwise it stays dry. Cloud builds from the west later with the best of the sunshine over eastern parts of England and Scotland. Staying cool after a frosty start with highs of 5 to 8°C.
