Wednesday
A dry and bright day for central, east & northern regions, with plenty of sunshine, but staying rather hazy. Early mist patches clearing. Cloud thickens from the west, and drizzly rain soon develops for south-west England & south Wales, turning persistent and heavy during the afternoon. Heavy rain extends north & east across Ireland. South-easterly winds strengthening. Feeling warm, 20 to 22C in eastern England; 15 to 18C elsewhere.


Wednesday night
Rain advances north & east to most of Britain during the evening, persisting for several hours. Some heavy bursts, particularly over south-facing hills in the west. Extensive low cloud resulting in hill fog. Becoming drier in the west later in the night, some cloud breaks developing. Blustery winds, especially around coasts, south-easterly turning westerly later. Mild at 11 to 15C, but may dip below 10C in the west before dawn.


Thursday
A grey and damp start for central, east & northern Britain, with rain or drizzle lingering for much of the morning. In eastern counties it may stay damp into early afternoon. Brightening skies from the west, with some sunshine breaking through, best in south-western Britain. Further rain develops for Ireland later as fronts return from the Atlantic. Winds fairly light south to south-westerlies, freshening later in west. Highs 14 to 18C.


Friday
A frontal system will pass eastwards across Britain during the day, bringing cloud and outbreaks of rain to most places. This will persist for several hours, heaviest and most prolonged over the hills in the west & north-west, but patchier toward the east & south-east of England. A clearance should develop from the west, with sunny spells breaking through. Showers will follow into Ireland. A south-westerly breeze. Highs 13 to 18C.
