Mild and windy through most of England and Wales this morning. Rain across most of southern and eastern Ireland. The rain could be heavy at times in eastern Ireland and northwest England, lighter rain in the northeast. The rain could affect southern Scotland where it may fall as snow on hills. Drier in central and northern Scotland but some snow showers to the north. The heaviest of the rain, some some snow affects southern Scotland and northwest England this afternoon. Further rain in west Wales and southwest England. Less rain through central and eastern areas. Snow showers in northern Scotland. Highs at 4C in Scotland, 11C in England and Wales.

Wednesday Night
Windy with heavy periods of rain passing east through England and Wales overnight. This should be clear of eastern coasts by the morning, and rain may turn sleety for a time in central and eastern areas. A few wintry showers in Ireland and western Wales as well as western England. More persistent snow showers in western Scotland. Lows at 0 to 5C.
 

Thursday
Severe gales in eastern Scotland and northeast England on Thursday morning as low pressure remains east of the country. There is a risk of some sleet and snow showers in the east of Scotland and perhaps more persistent sleet. Brighter and colder for most areas of the UK and Ireland. Some snow showers could affect western Scotland and Northern Ireland as wellas northwest England. A few wintry showers in western Wales too. best of the sunshine and driest weather in the east. Windy for all. Highs at 4 to 8C.

Friday
A cold day in a west to northwest wind with low pressure to the northeast of Scotland. There will be snow showers across northern and western Scotland, a few of these affecting northwest England, western coasts of Wales and northwest Ireland. Drier and brighter elsewhere with plenty of sunshine, although feeling cold. Increased cloud bringing rain into southern Ireland and southwest England by the evening. Highs at 3C in northern Scotland, 7C in southern England and feeling very cold in that wind.
