Wind, rain and thunder
Better Saturday

Friday
A filling yet still deep area of low pressure is centred over northern England come Friday. Heavy showers and longer periods of rain with a risk of hail and thunder, especially over England and Wales. Further rain in eastern Scotland, and again this could be heavy. Western Scotland should see fewer showers and some sunny spells. Fewer showers in much of central and northern Ireland. Gusty winds across southern England, south Wales and parts of Scotland. Highs at 8 to 13C.


Friday Night
Overnight, showers, some still heavy at times, will continue across eastern Scotland, northern England and into eastern England too. Few showers and more in the way of drier conditions further west with clear spells about. A possible touch of frost across western and some southern regions of Sotland as well as central and eastern regions of Ireland. Lows elsewhere between 2 and 6C.


Saturday
Low pressure to the east of the UK on Saturday while a brief ridge of high pressure builds in from the west. A northwest flow brings brighter conditions with sunny spells and some scattered showers, most of these over windward facing coasts and hills as well as across eastern areas of Scotland and England. Highs at 9 to 14C.
 


Sunday
A further area of low pressure will be tracking eastwards into Ireland on Sunday. This pushes fronts and rain eastwards across Ireland and then the rest of British Isles during the day. Some rain could be heavy and it will be windy in the south of Ireland and southern England. Drier in northern Scotland. Highs at 9 to 13C.
