A breezy morning across the UK and Ireland. Some sunshine in East Anglia and southeast England at first. However, rain in western Scotland, Wales and western England. The rain rather heavy and showery with a risk of thunder. Rain in eastern and northern Ireland at first, this also heavy and showers, but clearing east. Drier and brighter in the west of Ireland. Gusty winds and rain then spread eastwards, becoming more showery and clearing eastern England in the afternoon. Brighter, cooler weather follows from the west, some showers over western coasts and hils. Heavier showers returning to Ireland layer and persistent showers, turning wintry in central Scotland. Highs at 16C in central England, 10C in the west. Gusts to 50mph in western areas.

Wednesday night
Snow showers in northern Scotland and windy overnight. More persistent snow over the hills of central and eastern Scotland for a while, this clearing east. Showers in northern England and the north and west of Ireland as well as much of Wales. Drier and colder as well as windy in the rest of England and southern Ireland. Lows at 2 to 6C.
 

Thursday
A cold morning across the UK and Ireland. There will be a scattering of wintry showers in northern and eastern Scotland as well as eastern England. Windy in eastern areas at first too. A ridge of high pressure builds from the west and this will be bringing drier, brighter weather for most. Good spells of sunshine in the afternoon, best in the west. Cloud increasing in western Ireland later as a warm front approaches. Highs at a chilly 6 to 9C.

Friday
Fronts passing east through Ireland and the UK on Friday. These bring lots of cloud and periods of rain, most of them patchy. More persistent rain affecting northwest England and western Scotland, heaviest here too. It is going to be breezy too with very little change through the day. Tending to become milder in the evening after a cool start. Highs at 9 to 11C.
