Low pressure system brings showers to the south at first

The unsettled theme continues initially with rain or showers across Wales and southern England, but pressure may build for all next week and turn drier.

Friday 03/5/24
A showery start in southern England and Wales with some rumbles of thunder possible. Elsewhere a dry and sunny start before showers transfer northwards through the day, affecting the Midlands and the Pennines into the afternoon. A little more cloud across eastern England although tending to lift later. Across Scotland and Northern Ireland it will stay largely dry with decent sunny spells. Highs of 18-20C during sunny spells in the south, 15-18C in the north.


Saturday 04/5/24
Low confidence in a possible area of thundery rain affecting the southeast and east of England during the morning, possibly pushing north and westwards into the Midlands into the afternoon, with decent sunny spells in the north and west once more. Highs once more of 19-21C in the west in the sunshine, 15-18C across the north.


 


Sunday 05/5/24
A weak low pressure system likely persists across much of the UK bringing scattered showers, although likely remaining hit and miss with some areas staying completely dry. The focus on the showers in southern and eastern areas with a fine day across Scotland and Northern Ireland once more. Feeling a little cooler with highs of 13-16C in Scotland, 16-19C in the south.


Monday 06/5/24
A few showers across southwest England initially, with the risk transferring to northern England later although pressure tends to build across the UK during the afternoon meaning showers become fewer and further between. Plenty of lengthy sunny spells for most. Highs of 13 to 17C for many.


Tuesday 07/5/24
High pressure likely dominates for most, with sunny spells throughout the day, although temperatures will remain around average as the high originates from Scandinavia. Highs once more of 13 to 18C.

Wednesday 08/5/24
The possibility of rain moving in from the west during the day, staying largely dry in eastern England. Temperatures around average for this time of year, 15 to 19C north to south.
