UK Forecast - July 01, 2020
Unsettled
Rain or showers

Thursday
Low pressure remains over the UK during Thursday with a trough moving through central parts of the UK. This will bring patchy rain across the Midlands, northern England and Wales before moving into East Anglia into the afternoon. Largely dry elsewhere but some showers developing across Scotland and southern counties of England. Brighter conditions will be developing from the west. During the afternoon there is the potential for some scattered slow moving thunderstorms to develop across the central and eastern parts of England, these locally torrential, although fading quickly once again from the west during the later afternoon and evening. Drier with sunny spells elsewhere. Highs around 14 to 18C generally and 21C in the southeast of England.

Thursday Night
Any lingering showers will clear out through the evening to allow for a largely dry start to the night, although cloud will thicken in the west as the next Atlantic low pressure moves in. Rain will then affect western Scotland, nrthern England as well as Northern Ireland and Ireland, heaviest and most prolonged rainfall across southwest Scotland and Northern Ireland as the night progresses. Temperatures falling to around 12 to 15C. Cooler across central Scotland with temperatures falling to 7 to 9C.

Friday
Friday will be windy and wet with spells of rain, some heavy and persistent in the north and west including southwest England, Ireland as well as Wales. Behind the rain, low cloud, mist, fog and drizzle will linger on western coasts of the UK as well as western coasts of Ireland. The south does look to stay mainly dry although on that brisk west to southwesterly wind blustery showers are likely to reach central places across England. Best of any sunny spells will be in the southeast of England. Highs around 14 to 18C generally with the southeast fairing warmer at 21C.

Saturday
An area of low pressure will track eastwards across the UK on Saturday with outbreaks of rain affecting most places through the morning. Heaviest spells over Northern Ireland, central and southern Scotland as well as northwest England. A drier and brighter afternoon for many behind the band of rain although northern parts of Scotland could see some showers developing. Through the evening cloud will start to build in the west. Cool in the northwest at 13 to 16C, elsewhere, highs at 16 to 21C.
