Monday
Another cold day on Monday but with plenty of sunny spells and largely dry weather across the UK and Ireland. A weakening front brings increasingly scattered and light wintry showers to northern parts of England which sink south through the Midlands before fading completely. Elsewhere scattered wintry showers also continue to feed into northwestern parts of Scotland and Ireland and Irish Sea coasts of England and Wales. A trough may develop later in the afternoon/evening that brings more persistent rain, sleet and snow into Northern Ireland, southern Scotland and the north of England. Highs range from 1 to 5C for most, perhaps reaching 6 or 7C in the far southwest.

Monday Night
Patchy rain, sleet and snow fades over northern England to leave a mostly dry night for Great Britain. Cloud spreads in from the west with an area of rain spreading across Ireland and perhaps into the far west of Wales and England by Tuesday morning. Clear skies become confined to the far east of England and northeast Scotland through the night and some wintry showers are possible here too. Overnight lows widely range from -2 to 1C, falling as low as -10C in sheltered Scottish glens.

Tuesday
A ridge of high pressure brings a cold, dry start to the day with sunshine and a widespread frost across much of Great Britain. Increasing cloud brings rain, possibly preceded by a period of sleet and snow eastwards eventually through all parts of Ireland and much of the UK. It could be that several hours of snowfall affect parts of southern Scotland and northern England. Staying dry and fine to the northeast. High temperatures at 1 to 5C for many, 6 to 11C across the Republic of Ireland and the southwest of the UK.

Wednesday
A dry start for many but through the morning cloud thickens in the west and patchy rain, sleet and perhaps snow over higher ground, will push across western and central areas of the UK and Ireland. Rain could be locally heavy across western areas where it will fall on saturated ground so flooding in places once again is a likely risk. Winds strengthen too from the southwest. Staying dry over northeast Scotland. Highs range from 2 to 5C in the north and east, milder to the south and west at 6 to 12C.
