Cloudy, mild south
Brighter & fresher Friday

Thursday
A slack pressure pattern brings a quiet but rather cloudy day to most places. A weak warm front lies across central England, Wales & Ireland, producing low cloud, and patchy drizzle. Murky around south-western coasts. Some brightness may develop in south-east England. Broken cloud and sunny spells for northern Britain & Ireland. Breezy for Scotland, with showery rain in the far north. Highs 12 to 14C north, 15 to 18C south.

Thursday night
Pressure builds from the west and a weak cold front slips southwards across the country. Dry for most, apart from local patchy drizzle in the south-west. Cloud should break up from the north, and skies may widely clear through the night. Light north-westerly winds. Sheltered valleys may see fog patches before dawn, but these will soon clear. A touch of frost in rural northern areas, lows 3 to 7C; nearer 8 to 10C in the south.

Friday
High pressure centred to the west. A generally dry picture. Fairly cloudy in southern areas as a decaying cold front drifts southwards. Chance of patchy drizzle locally, but will soon all fade. Bright with sunny spells from the Midlands northwards. Light north to northwesterly winds, the strongest breeze in northern Scotland, and also near North Sea coasts. Feeling fresher, highs 11 to 15C, warmest in southern England.

Saturday
High pressure centred toward the south-west of the British Isles. Dry for most, although quite cloudy. Some sunshine breaking through, best in the east. Showery rain around coasts and hills in Wales, north-west England, western Scotland & Northern Ireland. A fresh west to north-westerly breeze. Chance of fog patches in the morning in the far south-west, and a rural frost is possible in Wales. Highs 11 to 16C.
