UK Forecast - December 24, 2016
Mild, windy, rain moving south
Colder tonight

Christmas Day
A much milder day for Christmas but it will be turning colder through the evening and night. A windy day, especially across northern areas. Gusts of 70-80 mph are expected across the far north of Scotland and the Northern Isles. Outbreaks of rain are expected across western Scotland and Northern Ireland with patchy rain across Wales and north west England in the morning. Cloudy in the east and south but dry. Expect highs of 11 to 13 Celsius.

Christmas Night
As it turns colder and the rain clears Scotland, it may turn to snow for a time. That area of rain across northern England and Wales moves into The Midlands and south west England during the evening then into the south overnight. Outbreaks of snow are expected across northern Scotland overnight with some accumulation likely. A few snow showers to affect the northern coast of Northern Ireland. Still quite windy tonight with gusts to 60 mph over the northern hills. Minimum temperatures of 2 to 7 Celsius north to south.

Boxing Day
A cooler day to come and staying very windy and those winds pick up again later in the afternoon with gusts of 70 mph across Scotland into the Northern Isles and 60 mph over the Pennines. Those strong north west winds will bring in showers to Scotland and northern England, these wintry across Scotland and the Pennines. Dry elsewhere with sunny spells. A dry night to come and a colder one. The winds lessen but it stays breezy across all but the south where temperatures fall enough for a frost. Expect top temperatures of 3 to 8 Celsius.

Tuesday
Windy in the north and the west and feeling cold today. Apart from a few showers in the north west of Scotland, high pressure is expected to give much of Britain a fine, dry day with good sunny spells. Some light rain may affect the Western Isles tonight. Most of the country will be dry with a frost perhaps restricted to parts of the Midlands, East Anglia and the south east where it will be less windy. Look for high temperatures of 5 to 7 Celsius.
