New Year's Day
Low pressure northwest of Ireland on New Year's Day. This brings a very mild and windy start to 2022. Periods of rain and drizzle in the west pushing east across the country through the day. Blustery showers behind, heavy and frequent across western Scotland. Tending to be drier with sunny spells in the east. Expect strong to gale force winds, particularly over higher ground. Highs at 13 to 15C.


New Year's Day Night
Rain will push northwards across northern Scotland and then affect the Northern Isles overnight. Mostly dry elsewhere but with a blustery wind about do expect some showers, mainly through western areas. More rain pushes in across Wales and southwest England later in the night. Lows at a mild 6 to 12C.
 


Sunday
Low pressure dominates on Sunday. This brings periods of rain to many areas, particularly further west, but also across Wales, central and southern England as a further shallow area of low pressure quickly crosses the country. Winds will strengthen for a time too as the low passes through. Highs at 9 to 13C.
 


Monday
The main area of low pressure to the west of Scotland slides down over the country on Monday. This brings rain to northern and western regions in particular, some turning to sleet and snow over the hills towards evening. Largely dry elsewhere with sunny spells though some scattered showers in the west. Another breezy day. Highs at 7 to 11C.
