Friday After a frosty start in the north it is expected to be a somewhat cool day with sunny spells and showers, the showers mostly in the west where they could be heavy and frequent, with the risk of some thunder and hail. Eastern areas staying mainly dry. Highs at 4 to 7C.
Friday Night Most showers are expected to ease off overnight though a few may continue in the west. Plenty of clear skies about initially which will bring down the overnight minimum temperatures for a time, before cloud increases from the west and patchy light rain moves in across Ireland, Northern Ireland and reaching far western regions of the UK by dawn. Lows at -1 to 3C.
Saturday Some frost to start in places across Scotland and northern England but it will become progressively wet and windy here. Rain also pushes across England and Wales and becoming heavy and persistent across parts of Wales in the afternoon. As the rain largely clears from the west expect drier conditions but also blustery showers for some. A cool day in the east with highs here at 4 to 6C but temperatures should increase in the west up to 8 to 11C.
Sunday Sunday brings low cloud and drizzle as well as hill and coastal fog through many areas, particularly in the morning. More persistent rain in Ireland, Northern Ireland moving into northwest England and southern parts of Scotland. Perhaps some sunnier spells develop in the afternoon across central and southern England as well as Wales. Highs at a milder 7 to 13C, though cooler still across parts of northern Scotland.
