Wet & mild
No frost tonight

Wednesday
A wet day as a front brings rain to all areas. The rain will be heavy at times as it moves from west to east. Most of the rain affecting central and western Scotland as well as northwest England. Northeast England and eastern Scotland starting drier but rain here by afternoon and evening. Rain fades in the west with conditions becoming more drizzly through the afternoon. Drier to in central parts of England and Wales during the mid to late afternoon. Highs at 6C in northern Scotland, more widely becoming 10 to 15C.


Wednesday Night
Plenty of cloud overnight. There will be outbreaks of drizzle with low cloud over western coasts and hills. Most of the drizzle in west Wales, southwest England and southern Ireland. A few spots of rain in western Scotland too. Drier in the east, lows at 6 to 9C.
 


Thursday
A warm front across southern England, Wales and Ireland on Thursday morning bringing very mild conditions, cloud and periods of drizzle. Rain over western coasts and hills with some fog over hill tops too. A few brighter spells may develop in eastern England. Rain in Scotland clearing eastwards quickly with drier weather arriving for most, but still with lots of cloud. Highs at 11 to 14C.


New Year's Eve
A showery area of rain passes through England and Wales on New Year's Eve. More persistent rain in central and eastern Scotland, some of it heavy. Drier weather arriving from the west as a weak ridge of high pressure builds. There wil always be plenty of cloud, but a few bright or sunny spells developing as the drier air arrives. A mild day with temperatures at 10C in northern Scotland, 15C in southern England.
