Monday
Rain moves east across southern parts of England and Wales in the morning, followed by bands of heavy and locally thundery showers over southern England by the afternoon. Some drier weather for north Wales and the north Midlands, but rain affects Cumbria and southern Scotland, locally thundery bursts around the Borders by afternoon. Scattered bursts also for the Highlands by afternoon. Showery too for Ireland. A southwesterly breeze, strongest on southern coasts. Highs 16 to 21C.

Monday night
Residual showers into the night, but many will fade out. Some steady rain or drizzle is likely to come in from the west into Wales during Monday evening, leading to damp conditions for a few hours here. A few showers may also run into northwest England and the Peak District. Variable cloud and some clearer spells for east and southern England. A westerly breeze continues along the south coast. Lighter winds for northern Britain. Lows 9 to 13C.

Tuesday
A ridge of higher pressure brings largely dry, sunny and warmer weather, although local showers cannot be ruled out. The greatest risk of heavy showers will be focused on central and eastern Scotland by the afternoon, these drifting around slowly over a few hours. Cloud building in the far west as fronts approach from the Atlantic. Mostly light winds, although southern coasts breezier, especially in the morning. Highs 16 to 24C, warmest south and east.

Wednesday
High pressure influences much of England & Wales resulting in a fine day with good amounts of sunshine. Cloudier toward the west and northwest with a little drizzly rain coming onto hills nearest Irish Sea coasts. A front draped across Ireland brings cloud and rain, this also extending into western Scotland where rain may become persistent, but eastern Scotland should escape mainly dry. Brisk southerly winds in the west. Highs 17 to 26C, warmest across the eastern half of England.
