Tuesday
An unsettled day across Scotland with spells of heavy rain to the far northeast and across the Northern Isles as well as strong to near gale force northwesterly winds. The rest of Scotland will see largely cloudy skies and blustery showers in that fresh wind, heaviest in the west. Best of any sunny spells developing in the south of the country. It will be dry elsewhere across the UK initially though showers spread to more central and eastern areas through the afternoon. As a ridge builds in the southwest expect a mostly dry and fine end to the day across the UK and Ireland. Highs at 14 to 22C.

Tuesday Night
The rain across northern mainland Scotland and the Northern Isles will gradually become lighter and more patchy overnight. Staying breezy here. Some showers affecting northern and western coasts of Scotland, Ireland and Wales throughout the night but dry with clear spells for most places. Cloud will thicken across southwestern parts of Ireland through the early hours. Breezy in the east but winds lighter in the west. Temperatures falling to 8 to 12C.

Wednesday
A ridge of high pressure will give a largely dry day to many across the UK on Wednesday, although with low pressure close by to the west, patchy light rain will spread across Ireland through the day reaching Northern Ireland later and will possibly affect Irish Sea coastal areas of northern Wales and England at times. Cloud thickening across England, Wales and Scotland through the day with the best of the sun for eastern parts of England and Scotland. High temperatures around 15 to 22C.

Thursday 30/07/20
High pressure slides eastwards but still influences dry, sunny and very warm temperatures through Thursday across much of the country. An Atlantic low pressure brings cloudy skies and outbreaks of rain to Ireland and Northern Ireland before clearing and affecting western and northern Scotland during the day. Southerly winds will also strengthen here. Highs at a warm 18 to 25C.
