A wet start to the morning through much of Wales and the north of England as well as southern and eastern Ireland. Drier for Scotland and Northern Ireland with some sunny spells here, although cloud and showery rain in the far northwest. Drier for southern and eastern England with a fair amount of cloud. This afternoon brings heavy rain across eastern Ireland, western Wales and the west of England as well as southern Scotland. Windy in central and southern England but drier here. Brighter again in the rest of Scotland this afternoon, but some cloud and rain in the far west. Tops near 6 to 14C.

Thursday night
Rain at first through central and eastern areas tonight. This is going to be clearing eastwards with drier weather following for all. The winds will ease too having been very gusty across southeast England. A few showers affecting the far west of Scotland and Ireland. Lows near 3 to 7C.
 

Friday
A weak ridge of high pressure over southern England brings a brighter day. There will be some cloud over western coasts and hills, an odd shower here too, but for most of England and Wales the day should be dry with some bright or sunny spells. Thicker cloud and stronger winds reaching northern and western Scotland as well as the north and west of Ireland. Gales become widespread here during the afternoon, rain becoming heavier too. Highs at 9 to 12C.

Saturday
Low pressure and a strong southwest wind bring wet and windy weather to many parts of the UK and Ireland during Saturday. Severe gales for England and Wales with heavy periods of rain in western areas. Lighter rain in central and eastern parts, although remaining windy here. Flooding in the west. Brighter for much of Sotland and perhaps the far north of Ireland, but showers on western and north coasts and hills here. Drier for eastern Scotland with sunny spells in the northeast. Highs at 12C in the far south, more generally 7 to 9C.
