Tuesday
A breezy morning with cloud and strong winds, gales around southern, western and northern coasts and hills. Wet in more western areas, heavy at times across western Scotland and northwest England as well as Wales, southwest England and Ireland. Some morning outbreaks of rain further east and south. The rain then edges into the Midlands and southern England in the afternoon with a risk of some flooding in Wales and northwest England. Drier for Scotland and Ireland during the afternoon, some showers following to the west. Highs at 9 to 15C.

Tuesday night
A wet evening in central and southern England, this clearing steadily eastwards. Cloud and showery outbreaks of rain affecting western Scotland, western England, wales and Ireland. More eastern areas should be drier with a fair amount of cloud, but some clearer spells here as well. Lows at 6 to 10C and staying breezy.
 

Wednesday
Low pressure to the north and west, higher pressure to the south. This brings a mild southwest wind to all areas. Cloud and rain in western Ireland and western Scotland, some of the rain heavy at times here. A risk of some localised flooding in Wales and western England as well as southwest Scotland. As rain pushes into central Scotland it may turn to sleet or snow over the highest ground. Drier through more eastern and southern areas. Drier in more eastern and southern parts of the country with plenty of cloud. Temperatures rising to around 8 to 12C.

Christmas Eve
Low pressure stays to the north of the country through Thursday. A front passes eastwards bringing more bursts of heavy rain. Drier weather arriving in England and eastern Wales as well as eastern Scotland in the afternoon. Turning cooler as the drier weather arrives. Some heavy showers in northern and western Scotland and well as Northern ireland and northwest England, turning to snow on the hills. Highs at 5 to 11C.
