There wil be rain in western Scotland and Ireland, and this rain could be heavy at times. More eastern parts of Scotland should stay drier, and it is here where there could be some bright or sunny spells. For the rest of England and Wales the morning is likely to be mostly dry. Cloud in western areas could be thick enough to produce a few spots of drizzle on the hills, these continue into this afternoon. A few bright or sunny spells in more eastern and southern parts of England. Highs near a mild 13C in southern England, 10C in northern Scotland.

Wednesday night
A windy evening for all, severe gales affecting Scotland and Ireland as well as northern England and Wales. These winds easing as the night progresses. A band of rain slipping through Scotland and Ireland in the evening, reaching northwest England and Wales, and then into the Midlands by morning. Showers follow into western Scotland and Northern Ireland, turning to snow on hills. Drier across southern and eastern England, staying breezy here. Lows near 2 to 8C.

Thursday
A cold front lingers over southeast England on Thursday morning bringing rain here, some of it heavy. This rain could be reluctant to clear the southeast until mid to late afternoon. Brighter and drier weather following through much of England and Wales, although there will be showers in the west. The showers heavy in western Scotland, western Wales and western England, perhaps merging to longer spells of rain. Snow over the hills of Scotland. Tops at 2C in central Scotland, 12C in southeast England.

Friday
High pressure south of the country on Friday with low pressure to the north. A chiller day with showery bursts of rain in northern and western Scotland as well as western Wales and western England. Further showers in western Ireland. More eastern areas should be drier and brighter with sunny spells. Highs at 6 to 9C.
