Persistent rain west & north

Saturday
Slow moving fronts affect western regions, bringing persistent rain to west Wales and north-west England. Rain on and off for Scotland. Cloudy skies and a few spots of rain for the Midlands. Largely dry in the east & south-east, with a little sunshine breaking through. Brisk southerly winds, gales in the far north-west. Exceptionally mild again, highs widely 12 to 15C, locally 16C is east & north-east.


Saturday night
Heavy bursts of rain continue for western Britain & Ireland into the evening and night, advancing increasingly northwards across Scotland. Patchy rain reaches the Midlands as a weak cold front passes through, but very little in the east. Strong southerly winds continue, gusts 50 to 60mph around coasts in west & south-west. Mild, lows 7 to 10C north & west, but staying near 12C in east & south.


Sunday
Largely dry and bright weather across the east & south-east. Occasional sunshine. Heavy and squally showers in the west, or longer periods of rain in the north-west. Locally wintry over the higher Scottish mountains. Gusty west or south-westerly winds, widely 40 to 50mph. Mild again, but a little cooler than previous days, highs 8C in Scotland, and 12 or 13C in central & southern England.


Monday
Low pressure to the north of Britain brings wind and rain to most areas during the day. Heaviest rain will affect the hills of west Wales, north-west England and western Scotland. Winds reaching gale or severe gale force in the north & west, gusts 50 to 60mph, locally stronger. Staying mild, temperatures between 7C in Scotland, and 13C in the Midlands and southern England.
